Before 1780

Le Tonnelier is a  cheese barrel factory and stagecoach house. Compagny date of this business is unknown.

1780

Fribourg government authorizes Jacques Glassons to open a drinking establishment and install a bread oven under the sign of Le Tonnelier acquired from the Majeux brothers.

1805

On April 2, a fire destroys most of the city of Bulle. A concession for reconstruction will be obtained in 1806. the new buildingis rebuilt according to plans from the architect Charles De Castella.

1844

Le Tonnelier Officially becomes an inn.

1899

The compagny of the « Cercle des Arts et Métiers de Bulle », (Ancestor of the Radical party), acquires the Auberge du Tonnelier.

At the beginning of the 20th century, new transformations are  undertaken, in particular the creation in the café of frescoes by Joseph Ferrero.

1925

The Cottier Family acquires Le Tonnelier and will manage it for more than 90 years. Several transformation are undertaken during this period.

In 1963 the stables were replaced by the hotel part.

2018

The news buyers are undertaking major transformations. These aim to keep the strength of the old while developing the infastucture to meet the demands of 21st cnetury customers.
